Finding the Right Thermal Paper Roll ▼
Using the correct size protects your printer and keeps queues moving. Here’s what to check:
How thermal paper works
Thermal paper has a heat‑reactive coating that turns black under the print head—no ink or ribbons required. Coating quality drives print clarity and longevity.
Common sizes
Size is shown as Width × Diameter (e.g., 80×80mm).
- 80×80mm rolls — most POS receipt printers in retail and hospitality.
- 57×38mm rolls — standard for most EFTPOS terminals (Verifone, Ingenico, Worldpay).
- 57×40mm rolls — common for mobile and countertop EFTPOS terminals.
Industry Solutions ▼
Retail & supermarkets
High‑capacity 80×80mm reduces roll changes during rushes; crisp prints keep barcodes scannable and returns simple.
Hospitality: cafes, restaurants, bars
Jam‑free 57×40mm EFTPOS rolls keep queues moving; durable kitchen paper produces clear, heat‑resistant dockets.
